Thoughts?
So, wow, right? I’ve written almost 13,000 words in the past week. I’m not exactly sure what’s happened to me in the past week, but my creativity has spiked and the words are coming easier and easier. I think after Character-A’s arc finally peaked, everything fell into place. It’s stunning how everything has clicked and I know with more certainty than ever before how my book is going to end.
Once I reached my goal for the week of completing Chapters 18 and 19, I really did try to make myself take a break. But I would just sit and stare at my desk/laptop and think, man, I know exactly what happens next. I could just go ahead, write it out. And so I did. Repeatedly. I almost never write after work (I work second shift and don’t usually get home until after dark), but I did this week on more than one occasion. I popped out of bed earlier than usual a few times too because once I was awake, my mind wouldn’t turn back off.
Barring any major catastrophes, I know I’m going to finish my first draft before my self-imposed deadline. It’s just a question of how early at this point. Because of this, I wonder if I should just lump the extra time in with my self-prescribed month off to let my story sit, or if I should bump my rewriting schedule up and start early. I know for sure I want to take that month off between finishing the first draft and beginning the rewrite/first edit. Decisions, decisions. I’m thinking I’ll wait and see how early I finish before I decide.
My goal for next week is to write Chapters 22 and 23. I also want to finish reading the Adrien English series by Josh Lanyon, a series which is rapidly becoming my second favorite M/M romance series (right behind Captive Prince, of course; nothing could dethrone my beloved princes). I’m currently reading book 5 of 6, so that should be doable.
Note to self: Keep at it! You’re a bad ass!
