Progress Report 11/3/17

As always, I’d like to begin this week’s progress report by thanking all of you awesome people who’ve followed, liked and/or commented on my blog!

Here are this week’s stats:

Words Rewritten This Week2,729

Last Chapter of Second Draft Completed: 5

Chapters To Go (subject to change)20

Days Until January 20th Goal Date: 78

I’m trying to work through my book more calmly and efficiently this time around. When I wrote the first draft – as some readers will remember – I could blow through 5,000-10,000 words in one week easily. But this time around, I’m trying very hard to edit out useless information and redundancies and that requires a sharper, steadier eye. So my word counts are likely to be somewhat lower each week, this time around.

I believe I’ve managed to get my head back on straight from my overwhelmed phase last week. I’ve backed off of reading a little, which means I probably won’t reach 50 books this year after all. And that’s okay, because working on my book and retaining my balance is more important to me. I’ve still read more this year than ever before in a single year, and I am very proud of that.

I’ve continued listening to one podcast, Wine & Crime, on my commutes, but that is my only podcast at the moment. And if I’m feeling too scattered or tired to listen, I turn on music instead.

Goals For The Coming Week

In the coming week, I’d like to finish rewriting Chapter 6 (which I’ve already started), as well as Chapters 7 and 8. I know that sounds like a lot, but the way I set up my 1-chapter-every-4-days schedule, this week just happened to fall heavy. As I also have a very busy weekend this weekend (mom’s birthday and a 5k walk with one of my best friends), I’m not going to commit myself to another SkillShare class this week.

Note To Self

Look at you, learning your limits and respecting them! Go you!
