As always, I’d like to begin this week’s progress report by thanking all of you awesome people who’ve followed, liked and/or commented on my blog!
Here are this week’s stats:
Word Count for Chapters Edited This Week: 14,078
Last Chapter of Fourth Draft Completed: 13
Chapters To Go (subject to change): 12
Days Until July 15th Goal Date: 45
Thoughts?
First, I know this blog post is a day earlier than my normal progress reports, but because tomorrow marks exactly one year until the release of my book (barring any major catastrophes, knock on wood please), I wanted to post something very special for tomorrow. I didn’t want to combine it with my weekly progress report and I also didn’t want to post twice in one day. So here we are.
I didn’t work at all during my trip, but I did resume editing on Sunday. I’m currently ahead of schedule (check out that word count!) because my mom goes in for surgery on June 4th and I know her surgery and recovery would strain a normal editing schedule. So I’ve gotten myself to where I wanted to be as of June 10th in my chapter-completion schedule. Hopefully, by then, I’ll be able to resume my normal routine.
All of that said, I continue to be impressed by how little I actually have to correct/change as I work through this final self-edit. I made a joke on social media about removing some highly recurring adverbs, but honestly, it’s just a matter of doing that, correcting typos, and removing redundancies at this point. I know the editor and proofreader will likely find many things that I can’t see, but I am proud of where my manuscript is at this time.
Goals For The Coming Week
With my mom’s surgery and the fact that I’m ahead of schedule, I am setting no goals for this week. Because of this, there will be no progress report next Friday.
Note To Self
Thank goodness I’m organized. That’s all I have to say.
