I’m not going to lie to you. I had some difficulty coming up with something to write about for my inspiration this week. Not because I’m not inspired. I am. However, trying to explain exactly why I’m inspired is difficult these days.

It’s music. I’ve never felt so passionately about music as I do at this point in my life. I’ve always loved it, but I’ve seen exactly what music can do for a person.

It’s podcasts. Which sounds strange because I almost exclusively listen to true crime and fictional horror podcasts.

It’s other books. I cannot tell you how adventurous my reading life has been this year. I’m not only referring to subject matter, but also medium. I’ve listened to audio books. I’ve ordered my first comic books. I tried out a create-your-own-adventure book for the first time since elementary school.

It’s YouTube videos. Author vloggers. Band interviews and performances.

It’s conversations with friends which I won’t call out or replicate here.

Everything is inspiring, if you’re of that mindset. Witty banter in a movie can inspire the dialogue in my writing. An author will blow me away with a well-executed scene and I will note the dynamic used. A friend will suggest something I hadn’t previously considered.

It’s all inspiration, when you take the time to look around and observe.
