Progress Report 11/10/17

As always, I’d like to begin this week’s progress report by thanking all of you awesome people who’ve followed, liked and/or commented on my blog!

Here are this week’s stats:

Words Rewritten This Week: 9,002

Last Chapter of Second Draft Completed: 8

Chapters To Go (subject to change): 17

Days Until January 20th Goal Date: 71

Thoughts?

I had an extremely productive rewriting week! I’m very proud of myself for managing to meet my writing goals and get back on track with my chapter completion deadlines. I was very busy this past weekend and to be able to still maintain my writing life proves to me that I am more than capable of being a writer.

One thing about letting my manuscript sit for a month, it made me forget a lot of the little details in my story. For instance (vague spoiler warning), I’d forgotten the bittersweet moment when my protagonists almost kiss for the first time, but then don’t. I know what happens between them, but the specific details are so fuzzy in my memory that rewriting it feels like I’m discovering the story again for the first time. When they dodged each other that first time, I actually felt the sting in my chest.

I’ve also progressed far enough in my rewrite that I’m finally able to put to use all of that research I did during my break. Shout out again to the friends who humored my questions, as well as my library for always being there when I need you. It’s a relief to think I might not sound as dumb as I felt when writing the first draft.

Goals For The Coming Week

In the coming week, I’d like to rewrite Chapter 9 and begin working on Chapter 10. I’d like to take another SkillShare class. I’d also like to finish the ARC read I’m currently working on, Wrapped with Love by Beth Bolden.

Note To Self

Look at what you’re capable of when you respect your limits and focus! Keep driving forward, you can absolutely do this!
