Getting a Headstart & Managing to Fall in Love (PR 5/18/18)

As always, I’d like to begin this week’s progress report by thanking all of you awesome people who’ve followed, liked and/or commented on my blog!

Here are this week’s stats:

Word Count for Chapters Edited This Week: 12,926

Last Chapter of Fourth Draft Completed: 5

Chapters To Go (subject to change)20

Days Until July 15th Goal Date: 58

Thoughts?

Can I just tell you how incredibly satisfying it is to comb through a manuscript with fewer and fewer errors? Because it feels amazing! I’m still going through it page by page, marking changes I want to make in red ink, then editing the document on my laptop accordingly. After applying my own edits, before taking note of the word count for the chapter, I run spell-check. For the first few drafts of this book, working through spell-check took a while. This time around? I think for these first five chapters I’ve worked through, spell-check has caught 2-3 errors per chapter, TOPS. Don’t get me wrong, I know spell-check doesn’t catch everything, but it’s still awesome to know how many errors I started with compared to how many I’ve had recently.

That said, editing is going very well this time. I went through the whole thing with each questionnaire and marked the good, the bad, and the shaky so I know where I work harder and where to let it be – aside from removing any typos or grammar mistakes.

I also managed to fall in love this week…with a new series! I wasn’t originally going to mention it on this blog because I was under the false impression that it was pure smut. BUT I WAS WRONG. I WAS SO DAMN WRONG. The series I’m speaking of is the Up-Ending Tad series by Kora Knight. If it sounds a bit risque, that’s because it 100% is. I don’t want to detail my thoughts so far, as I plan on doing a full-series review once I’ve finished it on this blog. But suffice it to say that, I am in love. Like, ‘forgetting to eat/drink, stopping to argue/berate characters, hugging my Kindle to my chest’ in love.

Goals For The Coming Week

In the coming week, I’d like to edit Chapters 6, 7 and possibly 8. My trip/concert is next week so I won’t be able to cover as much ground as I did this first full week back at it. The good news is that I’m already ahead and I don’t want to lose that lead with all of the stuff on my plate in the next couple of weeks. I’d also like to continue to enjoy this series when I can, as it’s definitely helping me keep my stress and anxiety away when I’m not writing/editing.

Note To Self

Nothing but good things, Baisden. Nothing but good things.
