As always, I’d like to begin this week’s progress report by thanking all of you awesome people who’ve followed, liked and/or commented on my blog!
Here are this week’s stats:
Tentative Final Word Count for the Fifth Draft: 66,970
Thoughts?
So, editing is hard. Way harder than I thought it would be. Rewriting scenes/pieces of scenes to follow suit with a certain POV, condensing short, choppy scenes into longer, flowing scenes, cutting out superfluous words, phrases, sentences, whole paragraphs.
Guys, it’s hard.
The good news is that I completed the big job yesterday, which was going through my entire manuscript and working through all of the changes and notes my editor made. But I’m not quite finished. As my eyes and brain got tired working through it, I know I may have missed things.
My plan is that for today and tomorrow, I’m going to go back and comb through the most important scenes and make sure they still pack the necessary punch I’d like them to. I also need to make sure the book blurb still reads the way I want it to.
Goals For The Coming Week
Get the fifth draft of my book, as well as the amended book blurb, emailed to my editor on Sunday, August 5th. I’d also like to finish the book I’ve begun reading, Keeper by Kim Chance, while I wait for my manuscript with the second round of edits to come back to me.
Note To Self
I can do this. I know I can. I just have to keep going.
