As always, I’d like to begin this week’s progress report by thanking all of you awesome people who’ve followed, liked and/or commented on my blog!
Estimated Days Until Beginning the FINAL Draft (August 29): 5
No stats this week, since I’m not directly working on my manuscript.
Thoughts On Leaving My Book Alone
First thing, I made a major investment in my future as a writer…meaning I took the Staple guy’s advice and used that knowledge to buy a new laptop. I’ve been lusting after a MacBook Pro, but for the time being, it just isn’t practical. Instead, I went with a beautiful Lenovo Ideapad 330 in Onyx Black. I kept my old Toshiba as a backup option, but I can tell you, working on this Lenovo has been a dream. Our country WiFi is always a little slower, but at least with an updated machine, the problem isn’t any further exacerbated.
Second thing, this waiting business has been both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it’s let me focus on studying marketing and preparing a plan for my book launch. A curse because BOY DOES TIME DRAG WHEN YOU HAVE TO WAIT. It’s been nice having the new laptop because, in the boredom of waiting, I’ve tweaked my website and outlined my blogs for the next 3+ months. I tried to work on these things on the old laptop, only to rage-quit when the lag wore out my patience.
A new little development on the future-books horizon…I think I have an idea for book 3. I believe book 2 and book 3 are going to be directly related. Character-B from book 2 started talking on Wednesday and I learned that not only did I have his name wrong, but that he has a brother. A very handsome, very interesting brother who I cannot wait to learn more about. Thank you, book-3-Character-A, for putting a bright spot in my week. (Do I sound crazy yet? Do I care??)
Goals for the Coming Week
As soon as I have my proofreader-revised manuscript back, I’d like to bang out those changes so I can have my seventh and FINAL draft completed. From there, I want to have it printed, more for sentimental purposes than anything else, as well as have it backed up in all the usual ways. I also want to finish creating my file on the US Copyright website so that I’m ‘all systems go’ on September 12th. Also, I know I’ve been saying it for a least a month but, I’d really like to finish Keeper by Kim Chance this week.
Note to Self
Book 1 very nearly in the can. Book 2 on the horizon and Book 3 in the distance. You’re doing it, Phia. Finally, at long last, YOU’RE FUCKING DOING IT.
