Thoughts?

Sorry, been listening to a LOT of Bon Jovi this week.

Anyways, as you can see, I managed to surpass 25k, then 30k, this week! I am so beyond thrilled with this! The writing has been coming, sometimes easily, sometimes with these little moments of frustration, but I am proud to say that not once have I stopped before hitting my word count goal for the day in the 16 days I’ve been participating in National Novel Writing Month.

In spite of the dark elements and heavy themes in this story, this book has been so much fun to write. I see these characters doing things, hear them saying things so vividly that it frequently moves me. I imagine my main characters falling in love, doing cute and funny things together. Writing Character A’s emotional moments has had me in tears more than once. Writing Character B’s sense of humor has surprised me into laughter a few times as well.

I am excited to see where everything lands for this story, as I’ve deviated from the outline slightly. As I’ve said before, all of the main points I wanted to hit are still in the mix, but certain scenes have taken more/less words than expected and I’ve had to account for that at times. But overall, the story is headed in the general direction of the framework I laid out for it.

If you’d like to be my NaNo buddy, my profile is available here.

Goals For The Coming Week

According to my spreadsheet of daily word-count goals, I’m projected to write 14,500 words in the next week. This would put my overall total at just over 44,500. True to form, we all know I’m going to aim just above that for 45,000 words. Also, there’s now very little doubt in my mind that I am not only going to win NaNoWriMo, but that I’m going to do it early AF.

I did finish one short, light read this past weekend, BFF by K.C. Wells. Though I’m still not setting any solid reading goals, I would like to take any available reading time and read my ARC copy of Company for Christmas by A.E. Ryecart.
