As always, I’d like to begin this week’s progress report by thanking all of you awesome people who’ve followed, liked and/or commented on my blog!
Here are this week’s stats:
Words Rewritten This Week: 15,061
Words Rewritten So Far: 40,468
Last Chapter of Second Draft Completed: 12
Chapters To Go (subject to change): 7
Days Until January 31st Goal Date: 14
So, I didn’t quite make my goals from last week. Specifically, somehow, the longest chapter of the book ended up being the last chapter I was supposed to rewrite this week. I woke up on time, but I felt so tired and sleepy, and I kept making so many typos, I decided to stop a little over halfway through the chapter. I may finish it tomorrow (today, since this post goes live on Friday) or I may just rewrite the rest on Sunday before rewriting chapter 14. I’m off on Sundays, so that wouldn’t be too far fetched.
Normally, I’d be disappointed that I didn’t make my goals for the week. I pride myself on keeping the ball rolling and not giving up when things get tough. But I’m also human. Seasonal depression is very real for me and in case you haven’t noticed, I am working on ramping up marketing for Credence’s release. I worked extensively last weekend on sending review requests to bloggers, touching base with folks I’d spoken with a few months ago about the same, creating teaser graphics for the weeks leading up to release day, working on my first newsletter, etc. At the time, I was proud of what I managed to achieve in a single weekend. But today (yesterday when this blog goes live), I’m feeling the effects of pushing myself so hard.
We all know I’m not quitting. I love this new story dearly and I feel that realizing I’m too tired to produce quality rewriting is major progress in itself. So I hit the pause button, admitted I needed to step back for a day or two, and am proud of myself for doing it.
Speaking of marketing for Credence, I HIGHLY recommend signing up for my newsletter HERE if you haven’t already done so. My first one will go out on February 1st and will include a special freebie.
Don’t forget to check out my first book, Credence! Releasing on March 1, 2019, it is currently available for digital preorder via Amazon, HERE.
Goals For The Coming Week
My plan for the next week is to finish rewriting chapter 13, along with completing chapters 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18. I shouldn’t hit a wall like I did this week, as I’m running out of things to do to prepare for marketing Credence. I’d also like to make a dent in the ARC I just received, Terrible Things by Beth Bolden.
