As always, I’d like to begin this week’s progress report by thanking all of you awesome people who’ve followed, liked and/or commented on my blog!
Here are this week’s stats:
Words Edited This Week: 8,687
Final Word Count for the Fourth Draft: 60,693
Thoughts?
First of all, I’m very proud to say that I’ve finished my first full draft of a book in the new apartment. I legitimately was afraid that I’d have trouble writing in the new place, but it worked out just fine. I’ll be able to further confirm that it all works out when I begin work on my third novel in November for NaNoWriMo.
I’m almost pleased to say that I finished this draft a few days ahead of schedule, back on Monday. It was a bit special finishing it that day, as it was Memorial Day here in the US and my main character, Sonny, is a veteran of the US Army.
All that said, as I believe I’ve mentioned before, editing and proofreading for this book got pushed back to July. This means I have a little more than a month’s break. I toyed with the idea of another self-edit, but I don’t want to mess with the 7-draft system that I’ve built. Instead, I plan to take June off from working on this book. My 30th birthday is in June and though I’m not dreading it, I’ve still been feeling a bit tired/off since the move and the car change and all that. I really want to try to settle and recharge before editing/proofreading begins.
Because of this, I’m going to take a hiatus from this blog for the month of June. I will be back in July to detail my second experience working with an editor and proofreader, respectively, as well as to keep you all informed of the second book’s progress as I move toward publication (tentatively set for early next year).
Goals For The Coming Week
Absolutely nothing. And that feels great!
