As always, I’d like to begin this week’s progress report by thanking all of you awesome people who’ve followed, liked and/or commented on my blog!
Here are this week’s stats:
Word Count for Chapters Edited This Week: 6,141
Last Chapter of Fourth Draft Completed: 23
Chapters To Go (subject to change): 2
Days Until July 15th Goal Date: 9
Thoughts?
I flipped over my calendar to July and was immediately face to face with the biggest month for my book to date. This month, I finish up the fourth draft and on the 16th, I send it to the editor for the first round of edits. To me, this feels pretty incredible. I’ve taken something that began as a just-for-fun writing project and turned it into a book. A real thing that’s about to go through three rounds of polishing to make it a REAL real thing.
My life seems to have settled down for now (knocking furiously on wood) and I’ve nearly completed my self-edits for this draft. Looking back at this draft, I know for a fact that no one can say I didn’t work hard to stay on track. The planning and scheduling I had to do to work around my trip and my mom’s surgery/post-surgery care, not to mention just life stuff in general, well…I may not be earning anything for my writing yet, but I know I’ve worked hard to keep the dream moving.
Goals For The Coming Week
In the next week, I’m scheduled to self-edit Chapters 24 and 25, thereby completing the fourth draft of my book. I also want to complete the rough draft of my book blurb. Once these two things are completed, I am all set to send them to the editor. I would also like to complete the series I’ve been reading.
Note To Self
Just two more, Phia. Two. More.
